Take an eco-friendly day trip while you get a great workout biking or hiking along the Legacy Trail. Much like many other recreational trails, the dog-friendly Legacy Trail originally served as a passenger train corridor from November 1911 until January 1992. The 18.5-mile paved route reaches from Payne Park in Sarasota to the Historic Venice Train Depot. If you want even more of a challenge, pick up the Venetian Waterway Park trail just past the depot.
