Sarasota Art

Viewing fantastic art is always in season around the Sarasota area!

Art has a way of allowing you to feel more deeply. A good artist can make you feel certain emotions with their work, whether that work happens to be a sculpture, a painting, or a poem. If you're in the mood to enjoy some art this fall, then we have good news. There are some lovely art exhibits to visit in the Bradenton and Sarasota areas. Here are a few of the top exhibits our real estate agents recommend checking out.

  • Art Center Manatee: 209 9th Street, Bradenton, FL 34205
Art Center Manatee has their Open, All Media, Juried Exhibition on display until October 6th, so stop by soon if you have a chance. This exhibit features a diverse collection of works created with different media and techniques. The exhibits were all judged on principles including color and harmony, form, atmosphere, and composition.

The winning piece in this exhibit is called Peggy's Cove #4. Created by J. Taylor, it is a pencil drawing that shows a remarkable contrast between water and rocks. The second place piece, created by P. Robertson, is called Florida Before the Invasion. It's a lovely watercolor that uses symmetry and vertical elements.

  • Meg Krakowiak Art Gallery & Studio: 60 S. Palm Ave., Sarasota, FL 34236
Meg Krakowiak Art Gallery & Studio
is the private gallery of Meg Krakowiak, an artist whose pastel work explores the use of color, texture, and light. Her work has been featured in Working Title Magazine and Home and Design Magazine.

This gallery is a great place to stop after looking at a few Sarasota homes for sale. You'll see relaxing paintings of sailboats on the water, bright and vibrant florals, and energetic cityscapes. Meg is usually there when the gallery is open, so you can even chat with the artist herself. The gallery is open Tuesday - Saturday between 11 am and 5 pm.

  • State of the Arts Gallery: 1525 State Street, Sarasota, FL 34236
    State of the Arts Gallery
primarily features contemporary artwork created by local Sarasota artists. The exhibits include a little of everything, from sculptures to paintings. This gallery recently expanded, and there is an art lounge on-site where you can read and enjoy books while viewing art.

One noted exhibit at the State of the Arts Gallery is called U R B A N A Q U A R I U M. This exhibit features paintings of surfers, the oceanfront, coral, and the coast. Another popular exhibit is called Wasabi Sabi. It features freeform, distressed, and expressive images meant to convey deep and varied emotions. State of the Art Gallery is open Tuesday - Saturday. Visit their website for the most up-to-date hours.

  • Sarasota Art Museum: 1001 South Tamiami Trail, Sarasota, FL 34236
The Sarasota Art Museum is located on the grounds of the Ringling College Museum Campus. It features several galleries, a bistro, and a gift shop. The museum is open 7 days a week, and admission is $15 per person.

Currently on display at the Sarasota Art Museum is an exhibit called Reassembling Split Light by Carlos Bunga. His images use light in creative ways to emphasize how humans and their surroundings influence each other. Another key exhibit, Sara Berman's Closet, ruminates on the meaning of life through the recreation of a closet.

Whether you make it to one of these art exhibits or all of them, we hope you have a lovely time.
