Dog Walking Sarasota

Finding a new home is a challenge for anyone. But as a pet owner, you know that you need to find a place where your furry friends will feel just as welcomed as you do. Our real estate agents understand that.

That's one of the reasons we consider ourselves lucky to call the Sarasota and Bradenton area home. With all these outstanding parks and trails for you and your dog to explore, you'll never run out of new adventures! January is Walk Your Dog Month, and we're excited to share some of our favorite walks in honor of the occasion.

  • Robinson Preserve - 1704 99th St NW, Bradenton, FL 34209
Encompassing 679 acres of marshes, mangroves, and coastal grasslands, Robinson Preserve is a beautifully wild place to take dogs for a walk. Campgrounds and picnic areas are also available, and the preserve is a popular area for bird watching. Located within walking distance of many Bradenton homes for sale, Robinson Preserve has over 7 miles of trails, including 2.5 miles of paved walking paths. All are open to leashed pets, making this one of the most popular dog-walking spots in the area.

  • Legacy Trail - Central Sarasota Pkwy, Sarasota, FL 34238
One of the best cycling routes in Sarasota County, the Legacy Trail stretches 18.5 miles from Sarasota to Venice. This multi-use trail follows the former Seminole Gulf Railway corridor and is convenient to countless Sarasota homes for sale. The flat, paved surface of the Legacy Trail is ideal for dog walking as well as jogging and biking.

  • Myakka River State Park - 13208 State Rd 72, Sarasota, FL 34241
Recently reopened after suffering damages during Hurricane Ian, Myakka River State Park is a lovely spot for a walk with a furry friend. In addition to camping and fishing access, the park has a spectacular trail system, which includes the 38.9-mile Myakka Loop Trail. The path meanders through shady live oak and palm hammocks, sandy pine forests, lush marshes, and sun-dappled prairies. A fee is charged per vehicle to enter Myakka River State Park, but pedestrians may enter free of charge.

  • Bradenton Riverwalk - 452 3rd Ave W, Bradenton, FL 34205
The 1.5-mile Bradenton Riverwalk provides a great, close-to-home dog-walking option for Bradenton residents. This linear park follows the course of the Manatee River and has features like playgrounds, park benches, and picnic spots along the way. Plans are currently being discussed to extend the length of the Riverwalk, providing even more room to roam with your canine companion in the future!

  • Brohard Paw Park - 1850 Harbor Dr S, Venice, FL 34285
It's not easy to find a place where Fido can truly run free, but Brohard Paw Park is just such a place. Located less than 30 minutes south of Sarasota in the city of Venice, Brohard Paw Park features boardwalks and a fenced-in play area that leads to the only public beach in Sarasota Beach where dogs are allowed.

  • Red Bug Slough Preserve - 5200 S Beneva Rd, Sarasota, FL 34231
The 72-acre Red Bug Slough Preserve is a wild, beautiful place to take your dog for a walk. The park offers several miles of trails that zigzag their way through a densely wooded landscape with creek crossings and beautiful scenery.  This is one of the best places in the Sarasota for pets (and their humans) who have a real sense of adventure!
