BRADENTON, FL, December 6, 2022 – It's "Poinsettias For a Cure" time of the year at Orban's Nursery. A big thanks to our Wagner family members, Julie and Joan Oliszewski, from our Manatee Ave West Office. With their efforts, and with more than 10 years of participating, they sold nearly 500 poinsettias. The proceeds support Project Nicholas, which aids local families dealing with cancer.
The National Project, Cancer Research, is supported by chapters and many also assist their local cancer units. Some members Volunteer to work at hospitals or provide transportation for cancer patients. Many also support other local charitable or civic causes. Chapters conduct projects such as: card parties, festivals, raffles, sales of nuts, fruit, candy, etc. Cancer Research is the Phi Beta Psi National Project. Research grants are given each year to doctors throughout the country working in the field of Cancer Research. It supports area research centers such as Moffitt, MD Anderson and Florida Hospital Cancer Institute.
"It's so important to give back to the community especially now, when many families are suffering in so many ways," notes Joan, adding "Julie and I are members of Phi Beta Psi, whose mission is to raise funds for cancer research. We also raise funds to help a local family who has a member fighting cancer and could use a little extra holiday cheer and encouragement. The rest goes to cancer research."
